Works in Progress

Street art in Edinburgh, Scotland

Can you believe it is the end of 2015 already?! What a crazy year. Everything has changed for me. 2 days ago marked 6 months that Stephen and I have been nomadic travelers without a home. I can’t believe it’s already been half a year! 2015 was pretty intense, and I foresee even more adventures in 2016.

Meanwhile, in my backpack studio, I’ve been making a lot of progress. I finally feel confident that I can both write and travel, and I’ve been expanding my horizons creatively.

Last week was really good for me. I got quite a bit of work done on my new book, as well as some experiments for a new idea. I’ve also been working on ways to share a couple of short stand-alone pieces. I have bits of writing, similar to flash fiction, that are too long for Instagram but not enough long enough for other formats. I haven’t found the perfect way to share them yet.

I actually have a lot of work done, but I haven’t found a medium I like through which to share them.

In 2016, I know I will grow a lot as a writer. As much as I have changed and grown already, I haven’t hit my stride yet. I have so many ideas, outlines, beginnings, and concepts, and with each thing I write, I get better. What I see, what I desire to say, is a challenge I am constantly trying to rise to meet. I am brewing some very powerful works across several genres, and I am excited to share them.

Get ready, 2016. I have a lot of words for you.
