(My work table)
‘Adumbrate’ is queued and ready to go live on Monday!
This has been a challenging story for me and has stretched my writing ability. If you know me, you are probably aware that I’m not a particularly emotional person. My thinking is much more logical and analytical, and I’m not a touchy-feely kind of person. As this has been my human experience, it is much easier for me to write characters who are like me in stories that are less emotionally charged.
Adumbrate is my most emotional story yet. I’m excited about it because it feels like a milestone to me. With every short story, every rider, and every novel I’ve written, I have grown as a writer. I’m practicing my art and I’m getting better, and that brings me a deep satisfaction.
I can’t wait to hear what all of you think of it!
This last week has also seen progress on the rough draft of my yet-to-be-named stand-alone novel. I’m falling in love with the characters and have begun to think about them as people, about what they would do or say in situations that would never occur in their novel. As I haven’t done that in a while (since The Empyrean Series has been in my mind for 11 years), I have found this process absolutely magical.
‘Sciamachy’, the next full-length novel in The Empyrean Series, is still being typed. It’s such a breath of fresh air for me. Never spend 10 years on a novel, folks. It does things to you…
This week I was asked to write a guest post for another blog. I’m still writing up my material, but I will let you all know when it goes up so you can read it.
