(How many of these vegetables can you name? Here we have: kale, radishes, cabbage, lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, and parsley.)

It is well into February. How are your New Years Resolutions going?
Mine are going fairly well, I think. I really wanted to get back into exercising in 2014, since I fell off the bandwagon in 2013 after my return to America (typical). I’ll admit that I had a bad week (right around when January became February) as far as exercising goes. But for the most part, I’ve exercised nearly every day – even if it’s just a little yoga.
S and I were talking last week, and decided it was time to step it up a little.
We both aim to live a healthy lifestyle. This includes mental health and physical health. For the most part, I think we eat pretty well. However, it is really easy to buy less fruits and vegetables, and more ‘easy foods’. You know how it goes.
In reassessing our goals and ideals, we made two moves:
1) I started a 30-day exercise challenge, moving from basic yoga and a little strength training, to more and harder strength training and more difficult yoga.
2) We went all-in on vegetables.
While S really likes vegetables, I will admit that my happy place is fruit. So this will be interesting.
30-day challenges work well for me. I like having a clearly defined goal. It’s also an easier pill to swallow than ‘cardio until death’.
Are your goals working for you? If you haven’t already, take some time to think about where you are and how you’re doing. Don’t be afraid to try something new!
