What does ‘you time’ look like?
We all take time for ourselves, even if it’s not much. For some of us, it’s rushed and filled with thoughts of responsibilities not yet tended to. For others, it’s binge watching Netflix.
Time spent investing in ourselves is important. How often we make time for ourselves, and what we do with that time is critical.
I tend to fall in the ‘binge watching Netflix’ category. I’ve been working on healthier ways of relaxing. I’ve finally admitted to myself that when I’m stressed, watching Netflix doesn’t fix it. I don’t really feel any better at all.
Have you ever thought about the ways you ‘relax’ and if they actually have a positive affect on you?
I think that a lot of things I thought were relaxing weren’t really relaxing at all. It was just a way of diverting my attention, pressing pause on my thoughts. Sometimes that’s a good thing, but in the long run, I don’t think that’s what I want for myself.
On of my mental health challenges for 2014 is forming better ‘me time’ habits.
I’ll let you know if I find anything good.
